| Description | Antimicrobial agent-28 is a bicycle molecule antimicrobial agent (PeptideDb, molecular weight 1746.04 Da), with a core peptide sequence of ACSFPKCPWVEGCA-NH2, containing three cysteine residues (Cys2, Cys7, Cys13) covalently linked through TATA (trisulfide crosslinker) to form three disulfide bonds, creating a conformationally stable bicyclic structure. This bicyclic conformation confers high protease resistance and target binding affinity. Antimicrobial agent-28 exhibits good affinity for E. coli penicillin-binding protein PBP3 (Penicillin-Binding Protein 3, also known as FtsI, a key enzyme in peptidoglycan synthesis during bacterial cell division), and can inhibit bacterial cell division and cell wall synthesis by blocking the transpeptidase activity of PBP3, thereby inhibiting E. coli activity. Widely used in PBP3-targeted antimicrobial drug development, bicyclic peptide drug design, E. coli cell division mechanism research and novel antimicrobial scaffold exploration. |
