Functional Description

Product Code Frontend Short Summary Detailed Biological Function Description Applicable Research Areas (comma-separated) Targets / Pathways
PEP-HBVRB-01 The HBV receptor-binding fragment (preS1 21-47, PLGFFPDHQLDPAFGANSNNPDWDFNP) is the N-terminal segment of the HBV large envelope protein preS1 responsible for hepatocyte recognition; it specifically binds HepG2 cells and is used in HBV entry and neutralizing antibody research. The HBV Receptor Binding Fragment (commercial name hepatitis B peptide 4980) corresponds to residues 21-47 of the preS1 domain of the HBV large envelope protein LHBs (PLGFFPDHQLDPAFGANSNNPDWDFNP). Neurath et al. first identified this fragment as the host hepatocyte receptor-binding site in Cell (1986); this synthetic peptide specifically binds HepG2 human hepatoma cells and is a candidate immunogen based on the attachment-blockade pathway of virus neutralization. Subsequent work established that the N-terminal preS1 region (especially residues 2-48, N-myristoylated) mediates HBV/HDV entry through interaction with the hepatocyte surface bile acid transporter sodium taurocholate cotransporting polypeptide (NTCP/SLC10A1). This peptide is widely used for HBV entry mechanism studies, NTCP interaction assays, neutralizing antibody epitope mapping, and prophylactic vaccine research. CAS registry number 114495-85-1. Hepatitis B entry mechanism, NTCP receptor research, virus neutralizing antibodies, prophylactic vaccines, hepatocyte biology Hepatocyte surface receptors (HepG2 cell binding); sodium taurocholate cotransporting polypeptide NTCP (SLC10A1), the preS1 functional receptor
